Roswitha's Schnitzelbank
Real German Food
Rose Hartline

Here are some reviews we have received in the recent years:

Best food in the four states!
- Craig A. Diggs

Although the restaurant is in a barn, you will not be feed less than superb food from Roswitha. As she says, "Yea it is in a barn, but you dont have to eat with the horses." Amazed at how she can whip some amazing schnitzel from such a tiny kitchen. The sweet tasting Kartoffelsalat (warm german potato salad) cant be beat as a side. Save room for her smooth tasting German chocolate with a shot of cognac.

This is a completely unexpected treasure hidden away from the main city.

My family has been going there for years. Rose and her staff are great! The food is ALWAYS great. Its a small place but if you have several in your party, call ahead and she will seat you in the party room. The rouladen, spaetzle, and huntsman schnitzel are so good, it makes you want to lick the plate clean. Don't forget the apple strudel. It melts in your mouth!. Just remember Rose is only open on Friday and Sat nights 5-9pm and she does not take credit or debit cards. Cash or check only! Order a german wheat beer or glass of wine and ask her to do the German toast! Its like dinner and a show!

If you're craving a unique dining experience, go see Rose. The drive is part of the fun and once you arrive, you may have to wait. Plan to spend 2+ hours there and also plan to arrive early in the event that some items may be sold out if you wait until later in the evening. All that said, the seeming inconvenience is totally wiped out by the delightful owner and the amazing food. The schnitzel will make your mouth water and the Diesel cake is spritzed with so much booze you might need a designated driver. Also try the seasonal mulled red wine drink. Finally, don't forget to bring cash or a check before you come: Rose doesn't take cards and there are no ATMs anywhere near there.

Amazing food!!! A lttle pricey and very cozy setting but the most authentic German food you will find this side of the Rhineland.

All I can say after eating at Roswithas Schnitzelbank was OMG..YUMMMMM. It is tradition in my family for my parents to take me to a German Resteraunt every year for my birthday. My sadness started as soon as I moved to NWA. No German Resteraunts! Growing up in St. Louis I was used to lots of great German food but not in NWA. So we drove to a place in Eureka Springs..thumbs down and then Altus..thumbs down... so a few years later I FINALLY find Roswithas. It was absolutely DELICIOUS and charming on the inside! Its little and reminds me of tiny cafes I used to go to in Europe. The Schnitzel was tender and juicy and not thin and dried out like jerky and tough as it was in the other places. This place was worth the hour and a half it took to get there! My son loved running around the barn and playing with the cats and watching the horses. Its like going to eat in your familys home. I will definitely go back again and AGAIN! I hope ya'll make the trip it is well WORTH IT!! Roswithas Schnitzelbank made my stomach Sing!!

Wow! Talk about the ultimate in comfort food! My wife and I live in Pittsburg, and regularly drive to Rose's for a wonderful meal. Everything on the menu is exceptional. The atmosphere is very cozy, usually with German music, and good staff. Rose is a very good hostess, and will explain any menu items in great detail, as well as teaching you how to toast properly in good German fashion. Not to be missed.

Great place and fun! Rose cooks with wine and she sometimes even adds some to the food!

I have been dining at Roswitha's regularly for over 5 years and it is my favorite casual restaurant. The food is great, the service wonderful, and Roswitha is a doll!!
